FRED ROGGIN

The leading sports anchor in Southern California, Fred Roggin is best known for his featured segments on the “Channel 4 News” in Los Angeles as well as his sports recap for NBC’s “Early Today” and MSNBC's “First Look” and “Morning Joe.” The host of KNBC's Sunday Night Football post-game sports show, "The Challenge. " Roggin is no stranger to the live broadcast experience and will be bringing his "A-game," along with GSN newcomer Kelly Packard, to the second half of the network’s newly expanded six-hour weekday game show experience, GSN LIVE™.
An award-winning journalist and sports radio talk show host, Roggin joined the NBC4 team in Los Angeles, California as a weekday reporter and weekend anchor in December 1980. During his tenure there, he has earned 27 regional Emmy Awards, 21 Golden Mike Awards, three prestigious Associated Press Awards and numerous Press Club Awards for his sports segments, specials and series.
In 1985, Roggin created, hosted, and executive produced the station’s “Sunday Night Sports” show, eventually becoming their primary sports anchor and reporter over the following year. Best-known for his humorous and often satirical sports segments including the “Hall of Shame” and “Roggin’s Heroes,” which became a nationally syndicated, weekly half-hour series in 1990, Roggin has also served as a play-by-play commentator the NBC Sports Network. In 1993 and 1994, he produced and hosted three, one-hour primetime “Top Secret Television” specials which featured bloopers and home videos from around the world. Roggin also teamed with Arthel Neville in 1997 to host “The Arthel & Fred Show,” a nationally syndicated daytime talk show marked with entertaining audience interaction, unconventional field segments, and engaging interviews with celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.
In 2001, Roggin served as one of NBC’s XFL sideline reporters and has since served as reporter and host for NBC's Olympic coverage.
Born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Roggin attended Phoenix College majoring in broadcasting. He and his wife, Richel, currently make their home in Los Angeles, California with their five children.
