GSN OFFERS SNEAK PEEK OF ‘THE GAME SHOW AWARDS’

(Beverly Hills, CA) – May 17, 2009 – GSN today offered a tantalizing sneak preview of THE GAME SHOW AWARDS, hosted by Howie Mandel—the very first awards show exclusively aimed at celebrating excellence in the genre of game shows. The lively and irreverent two and a half-hour, star-studded extravaganza was taped at the historic Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills on Saturday night, May 16, and will premiere on June 6, 2009, at 8PM ET/7PM CT on GSN.

Mandel, host of Deal Or No Deal?, got the best deal in the Best Game Show Host competition, while Dancing With the Stars danced away with the award for Best Reality Competition Show. The Newlywed Game caught the bouquet for Favorite Dating or Relationship Show; and it was much more than a hunch as The Brady Kids (Barry Williams, Mike Lookinland, Eve Plumb and Susan Olsen) scored for Favorite Celebrity Team, for their appearance on Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. Match Game was the perfect match in the Favorite Classic Game Show category.

For the entire slate of the evening’s winners, stay tuned for the show’s premiere on June 6. Additional categories to be unveiled in the telecast include: Best Game Show, Favorite Celebrity Player, Best Announcer, Favorite Game Show Models, Smartest Game Show Contestant, Favorite Game Show Catch Phrase, Favorite Game Show Sound Effect, Favorite Game Show Theme Song and many others.

Numerous stars will appear in THE GAME SHOW AWARDS, including Jeff Foxworthy, Carnie Wilson, Brooke Burns, Alison Sweeney, Fred Willard, Melissa Rivers, Richard Karn, Bruno Tonioli, Rip Taylor, Fred Roggin, Alan Thicke, Charo, George Wallace, Meatloaf, Kate Flannery, Annie Duke and many others.

THE GAME SHOW AWARDS honors classic and contemporary game shows, with special tributes to game show pioneers. Bob Barker, renowned host of The Price is Right, is presented with a Legend Award by Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron. Jeopardy!’s Alex Trebek bestows an Innovator Award upon the celebrated late game show producer Mark Goodson, who also received taped tributes from Betty White, Richard Dawson and Wolfgang Puck. And host/producer Monty Hall is reunited in the show with his Let’s Make a Deal co-star, original spokesmodel Carol Merrill, who presents Hall with his Icon Award.

The show’s studio audience has the chance to win prizes during the show by playing games created specifically for THE GAME SHOW AWARDS.

Among the show’s many humorous and heartfelt highlights will be:

• Cloris Leachman’s special dance performance with Dancing with the Stars cast members

• A real-life marriage proposal during a game-play segment hosted by Howie Mandel

• Charo outsmarting all-time Jeopardy! champ Ken Jennings during a raucous Q&A face-off
